Emily Ha (b. 1998, St. Paul, Minnesota) is an artist based in Austin, Texas. Her practice explores natural landscapes, imaginative escapes, and still life through a semi-abstract, impressionistic lens.

Ha’s paintings are rooted in attentiveness to natural movements, where soft, dappled light and swirling forms create dream-like renditions of reality. Her work is an exploration of how nature can hold both the familiar and the fantastical, yielding a space for reflection, wonder, and escape within the everyday.

Her paintings invite viewers to pause and consider seemingly opposing forces: the rushing white-capped waves against the gentleness of a cloudy sky, or the way sunlight finds its way into the smallest of cracks, illuminating curiosities that might otherwise stay over-shadowed. Ha’s work encourages a deeper awareness of the natural beauty that exists all around us.

At the heart of her work is an exploration of perception—where observation ends and interpretation begins. By blending reality with imagination, Ha asks how much of the world we experience is shaped by objectivity versus how much is shaped by the meaning we desire, create, and bring to it.
